| Perez Hilton Assaulted by Will.i.am, Says Twitter |
Typically celebrity blogger Perez Hilton reports news of other celebrities on his infamous Hollywood gossip blog. But when it comes to telling the world about an incident involving himself, Hilton’s medium of choice was Twitter, which has lead to some bizarre fallout.

Hilton tweeted late last night that he was “assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards.” Continuing to tweet about the event, Hilton notes that the Toronto police (where the alleged assault took place) were apparently bombarded by phone calls from concerned fans.
He also replied to numerous other Twitter users – famous and otherwise – some of who offered support, and others who think Hilton deserved it.
Hilton quickly fired back to the video response on Twitter (Twitter), claiming there are multiple witnesses. He has also since released his own video with his account of the incident.
While it will likely be some time until we know what actually happened in Toronto – Hilton says the issue is now in the hands of the authorities – it’s indicative of why celebs are taking to social media in droves. Rather than leave the stories up to the gossip blogs, they can respond personally and immediately via tools like Twitter and online video. The irony here is that the story involves the world’s most famous celebrity blogger.
